The Toll

12 October 2017 7.30pm
Tickets £5.00

Luke Wright with Rowan McCabe support bring you a night of spoken word performance to Sunderland's newest venue The Peacock.

Spend an evening with raconteur poet, Luke Wright, at the top of his game in The Toll. This show tours the flat-roofed pubs and half-bought couches of Brexit Britain. It struggles with doubt, duty and a score of half-cut nights spent shouting impotently at Question Time.

Luke Wright is an award winning poet and theatre-maker; The Toll is his tenth solo stage show. Since 1999 he’s performed thousands of gigs with everyone from Beck to Patti Smith. His shows have toured the world and for the last four years he’s performed to hundreds of thousands of people in Britain as John Cooper Clarke’s warm-up act.

“Wright perfectly captures the glamourless pulse of mainstream Britain and transforms it into rhythmic, transcendental beauty; put simply, this is the future of popular poetry.” - The Skinny

Supporting Luke we have the world’s first Door-to-Door Poet, Rowan McCabe; a local favourite and fresh from Glastonbury.
